What’s your cancellation policy?
I understand that sometimes you may need to cancel a scheduled lesson. That’s absolutely fine — all I ask is that you give at least 48 hours’ notice. This allows me to offer the slot to other students, whether they need to rearrange a lesson or book an additional session during busy periods.
If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the lesson will still be billable in full. The only exception is in the case of sudden illness, in which I will use my discretion and may waive the fee. However, repeated short-notice cancellations may still incur a charge.
Are there any additional charges for resources, travel, or preparation time?
No, the prices I quote are the prices I charge. There are no hidden charges or extras.
How do you do online tutoring?
I use Zoom for online tuition. Before each lesson, I will email you a secure link to join. We can see and hear each other, use an interactive whiteboard, and share resources in real time. This makes online tuition a convenient alternative when travel or home arrangements make in-person lessons difficult.
Do you have an enhanced DBS check?
Yes I have an enhanced DBS and am on the update service.
How long are lessons?
Usually 60 minutes, unlcss otherwise agreed.
Do you prepare students for entrance exams (11+, 13+, Common Entrance, Scholarship)?
Yes, I regularly prepare students for entrance exams including the 11+, 13+, Common Entrance, and Scholarship papers. I provide structured support across Science and Maths, focusing on building strong foundations, exam technique, and confidence. I tailor lessons to the specific requirements of each school’s exams, using past papers and targeted practice to ensure students are well prepared. Many of my students have gone on to secure places at top independent schools.
What qualifications do you have?
I hold a Doctorate in Pharmacy (PhD) from the University of Nottingham, an MPharm from Queen’s University Belfast, and a PGCE in Secondary Science (Chemistry) from University College London. I am also a Qualified Teacher (QTS) and currently work as an examiner for two major UK exam boards.
Do you have experience with students who have special educational needs (SEN)?
Yes. I have taught and tutored students with a wide range of abilities, including those with special educational needs. I adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles, provide clear structure and encouragement, and ensure that each student can progress with confidence at a pace that works for them.
Are you familiar with different exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge)?
Yes. I have extensive experience with all the major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and Cambridge (CIE). I understand the differences in content and exam style between specifications, and I tailor lessons and practice materials to match the exact requirements of each board.
