I graduated with a Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Nottingham after completing my Master of Pharmacy at Queen’s University Belfast. My initial path was research, and I spent several years working as a postdoctoral researcher at both Imperial College London and the University of Nottingham. While I valued the rigour and challenge of research, I realised my true enjoyment came from teaching others and sharing my enthusiasm for Science.
Wanting to channel that passion, I completed a PGCE in Chemistry at University College London and went on to teach in independent and state schools. I gained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and taught GCSE and A-level classes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Although I loved the classroom, I found that the part of teaching I enjoyed most—working closely with students, seeing their progress, and helping them gain confidence—was too often squeezed out by the demands of the profession.
Since 2017, I have worked as a full-time private tutor, providing tailored one-to-one and small group tuition in Chemistry, Biology and Physics up to GCSE/IGCSE, and Chemistry and Biology to A-level. I also prepare students for Common Entrance, 11+, 13+, and Scholarship exams. I have supported learners across the ability range, including students with special educational needs, and I am currently an examiner for two major UK exam boards, which gives me deep insight into how students can maximise marks.
Tutoring is not a sideline for me—it is my chosen career, and I take great pride in offering a professional, reliable service. What I enjoy most is seeing students grow in confidence, achieve results they didn’t think possible, and even discover a love for Science. That, for me, is the most satisfying part of the work.
